The CEO of Russian Railways briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the implementation of the presidential instructions regarding rail transport security.
Vladimir Yakunin reported that all the instructions related to installing door frame metal detectors at all major railway stations have been fulfilled. This applies primarily to Moscow, St Petersburg and stations along high-speed lines, including Vyborg. 258 stations have been equipped with video surveillance systems and their number will reach 354 by the end of June. Fundamentally new intelligent surveillance systems are also being introduced.
Russian Railways' efforts to optimise passenger rail travel during the summer holiday season were discussed separately.
