Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On the Russian Federation’s Statement In Connection with the Convention Concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF).
The federal law states that the Russian Federation shall apply Uniform legal regulations of the Contract of International Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) (Appendix B to the Convention Concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) to rail transportation on the infrastructure between the Kavkaz ferry complex and the Kavkaz port and railway station.
Applying COTIF provisions to the said railway infrastructure section aims at simplifying the procedure for registering cargo transportation by international rail to increase such transportation in the Black Sea basin area.
