Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings on Motor and Public Passenger Transport Worker Day to the sector’s current staff and veterans.
The message reads, in part:
“Today we honour representatives of very diverse professions – drivers and mechanics, engineers and designers, workers of respective enterprises and organisations – all those who are employed by the Russian motor transport complex, who have detailed knowledge of the trade and take pride in their profession.
I must note that strengthening of inter-regional and international connectivity, efficient development of industry and agriculture, and the quality of life for millions of our country’s citizens largely depend on the effective functioning of all elements of the industry, your competences and dedication.
You have serious and essential tasks facing you. The main one is large-scale modernisation and improvement of the sector’s infrastructure, expansion of automobile services market, introduction of cutting-edge logistics and management solutions, and ensuring environmentally friendly and safe transportation. It is also vitally important to set up conditions for an inflow of young well-qualified personnel to the industry.”
