Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings on Motor and City Passenger Transport Workers’ Day to the sector’s current and former workers.
The message reads, in part:
“The national motor transport industry has always been known for its top specialists that have profound knowledge of their profession. Your expertise and commitment to the wonderful traditions of your predecessors have been pivotal to ensuring uninterrupted transport communication between cities and regions as well as sustainable development and competitiveness of the national economy, industry and agriculture, and improving the quality of life in the country.
Today, you are facing ambitious and relevant tasks aimed at drastically modernising the industry and improving its infrastructure. As part of national projects and government programmes, comprehensive work is underway to build roads, upgrade public transport, with advanced, safe and comfortable vehicles put into use, extensively introduce modern environmental standards and digital technologies that allow for a greater quality and availability of transport services, and boost the volume of passenger and freight traffic.”
