The Federal Law is aimed at enhancing regulation of relations pertaining to the protection of the Russian Federation against the spread of infectious animal diseases from neighbouring foreign countries by land.

According to the Federal Law, upon receipt of information regarding the emergence of infectious animal diseases in such foreign states, the federal executive body responsible for veterinary supervision shall take measures to prevent the introduction of infectious animal diseases by disinfecting motor vehicles entering the Russian Federation from the said foreign states.

The list of infectious animal diseases emerging in said foreign states, which require disinfection of motor vehicles, shall be determined by an authorised federal executive body.

The law stipulates that disinfection of motor vehicles shall be carried our free of charge.
