Vladimir Putin submitted to State Duma draft law on legal amendments following transfer of Federal Drug Control Agency and Federal Migration Service powers to the Interior Ministry

In accordance with point g of article 84 of the Russian Constitution, the President submitted to the State Duma a draft federal law on amendments to Russian Federation laws following enhancement of state management in control of narcotics and psychotropic substances and their precursors and in migration.

The draft law is to optimise the federal executive agencies’ work on controlling trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, and in migration.

Under the draft law provisions, the federal executive agency responsible for drafting state policy, legal regulation, control and monitoring of trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, and prevention of their illegal trade, and the federal executive agency responsible for drafting state policy, legal regulation, implementing state policy, federal state control and provision of state services in the migration sphere, will transfer their powers to the federal executive agency responsible for drafting and implementing state policy and legal regulation in internal affairs.

With this aim in view, the draft law envisages amendments to the relevant Russian Federation laws.
