June 26, 2010, Huntsville

The first working meeting of G8 heads of state and government focused on key issues on the international agenda, including global development, security and the state of the global economy.

The main subjects reviewed at the working breakfast of G8 leaders were the growing sovereign debts and budget deficits in many countries, as well as other economic and financial issues.

The second meeting of the G8 heads of state and government was held with the participation of leaders of several African countries: Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa. The discussion focused on peace and security, aid programmes to African states, strengthening the non-proliferation regime, Iran's nuclear programme, and combating terrorism and drugs.

The meeting was later joined by the leaders of Columbia, Haiti and Jamaica, who had been invited to a G8 summit for the first time. Security, fight against organised crime and terrorism were addressed.
