Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 7 of the Federal Law On Guaranteeing the Rights of Indigenous Minorities of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law gives local self-government bodies the right to create, as a public service, municipal councils of representatives of indigenous minorities in places of their traditional residence and economic activities, to guarantee their rights and legal interests.
This removes the barrier that existed for the indigenous minorities to exercise their right to delegate authorised representatives to local self-government bodies.
