Congratulations to heads of state on the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

May 8, 2018

Vladimir Putin congratulated the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as the citizens of Georgia and Ukraine, on the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In his congratulatory messages, the President of Russia emphasised that Victory Day is a sacred date and a symbol of the unparalleled heroism of our peoples, who fought shoulder to shoulder on the war’s frontlines and worked tirelessly on the home front to save the Motherland and all of humanity from Nazism.

Vladimir Putin underscored the importance of passing on to the younger generation the undistorted truth about what happened during the Great Patriotic War, and stressed that it is the duty of today’s generations to prevent tragic events of the past from ever happening again.

The President also expressed confidence that the traditions of brotherly friendship and mutual assistance forged during the years of great hardship will continue to serve as a solid foundation for developing relations among our countries.

Vladimir Putin conveyed words of sincere gratitude to all war veterans and home front workers, wishing them good health, peace and prosperity.
