The President signed the Federal Law On Amending Articles 2 and 11 of the Law of the Russian Federation On Perpetuating the Memory of the Fallen Defenders of the Motherland.
The Federal Law was adopted in compliance with the President’s instructions to ensure the recording of and secure the functioning on the territory of the Russian Federation of memorials devoted to those who perished in the Great Patriotic War.
The Federal Law provides for the legislative consolidation of the notions Eternal Flame and Memory Flame, and the introduction of centralised recording of memorials located outside military burial grounds that contain an Eternal Flame or a Memory Flame.
