The message reads, in part:

“Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a common and invaluable heritage of the people of Russia and Georgia who fought side by side against a cruel enemy and made tremendous sacrifices in order to save their land and the entire world from fascism. It is our sacred duty today to honour the memory of the fallen heroes, treasure the truth about the war years, and care for our veterans.

I strongly believe that building on the glorious traditions of friendship and mutual support, hardened by the years of extreme challenges, we will be able to put Russian-Georgian relations on a sustainable track and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.

I would like to sincerely wish battle-front veterans and home front workers living in Georgia good health, a long life and wellbeing; and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Georgia.”
