Greetings to foreign state leaders and citizens on 76th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War

May 8, 2021

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the leaders and citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Vladimir Putin stressed that on this day we feel special pride and gratitude as we honour the heroic deeds of our fathers and grandfathers, who bravely fought shoulder to shoulder against the enemy and selflessly worked on the home front.

“Today, our moral duty is to preserve with care and pass on to the next generations the memories of those difficult years. We should decisively together oppose any attempts to distort and falsify history, revise the results of the Great Patriotic War or justify the heinous crimes committed by the Nazis and their accomplices,” noted Vladimir Putin.

The President of Russia expressed his confidence that the traditions of fraternal friendship and mutual assistance, tempered during the harsh times of war, have been and remain an unshakeable foundation for building and developing constructive and goodneighbourly relations between our countries and peoples.

Vladimir Putin conveyed his sincere gratitude to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War and workers on the home front, wishing them health, wellbeing, good spirits and many years of life.
