Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the sixth gala concert of the Thank You for Your Loyalty, Descendants! patriotic event.
The message reads, in part:
“Your concert is traditionally held on the eve of Victory Day and occupies a special place among the wide range of events marking this great holiday.
Vasily Lanovoy, a true patriot and citizen, stood at the origins of your excellent creative project. He understood the vital importance of preserving the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War and its heroes for generations to come and put a lot of energy and his heart into this noble and much needed work. At his initiative, every year the State Kremlin Palace became the centre of the Thank You for Your Loyalty, Descendants! patriotic event, whose lofty mission united people of all ages, jobs and interests – veterans, volunteers, military personnel and students of military academies and cadet corps.
It is pleasing to see that the organisers of today’s event decided to carry on Vasily Lanovoy’s mission. Such large, substantive and truly popular forums are in great demand. They make us recall the Motherland’s military history and are of great importance for the upbringing of young people.”
