Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants in the 3rd International Anti-Fascism Congress organised at the initiative of Russian and Belarusian defence agencies.
The message reads, in part:
“The forum’s theme this year is ‘For Unity of All Anti-Fascism Forces and For Complete Victory over Nazism.’
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – a celebration that unites millions of people around the world. It is revered by all who cherish the memory of the unfadable act of courage by the generation of the victors, the true heroes who defeated Nazism, defended their Motherland, and saved European nations from enslavement.
Today, as we confront grave challenges and witness the outcomes of the most violent war of the 20th century being revisited and falsified to serve transient political interests, with the Soviet Union’s contribution to Victory being undermined, it is imperative that we stand united in defending the truth about this war. We must oppose all manifestations of racism, including neo-Nazism, Russophobia, anti-Semitism, and other destructive ideologies. This is our duty to both the veterans and future generations. This is a solid foundation for building a safe and just world of equal partnerships among nations.”
