Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov reported on the programme for making inter-budgetary relations more effective and improving management of state and municipal finances over 2006–2008.
Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref informed the President about measures to combat counterfeit goods and also reported on infrastructure projects to be financed by the Investment Fund in 2006.
Education and Science Minister Andrei Fursenko spoke about a project to improve the wage payment system for the staff of scientific institutions part of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov gave an update on the spring military draft and reported on upcoming naval exercises. Mr Ivanov also reported on the implementation of a programme to construct housing for military servicemen.
Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov informed Mr Putin about social provisions for the families of military servicemen and pensions for the widows of servicemen.
The President instructed the Cabinet to amend legislation so as to enable the widows of servicemen who have died in recent years to receive a pension for loss of the breadwinner.
First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev reported on progress with implementing the national project “Affordable and Comfortable Housing for the People of Russia”.
The meeting also discussed the need to create a federal targeted programme to develop nanotechnology.
