Visit to Russian Direct Investment Fund’s AI exhibition

October 18, 2024, Moscow

Vladimir Putin visited the International Trade Centre, where he toured an exhibition showcasing cooperation between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and BRICS countries, as well as AI investment projects.

Vladimir Putin viewed the exhibition following a plenary session of the BRICS Business Forum. Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev provided explanations.

The President was shown exhibits from two of the Fund’s companies that use AI technologies in their advanced research projects.

Motorika dominates the Russian arm prosthetics market. The President admired the latest version of the Manifesto Hand prosthetic, with its tester playing an electric guitar for him.

NtechLab, which uses AI technologies for video footage analysis, also presented its products. The company develops biometric identification and facial recognition systems and has implemented large-scale projects in 34 countries and 62 Russian regions. It creates solutions for smart cities, the healthcare system, industry, transportation and other sectors. NtechLab technologies were used during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund proposed establishing a BRICS investment platform as part of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship. The platform will make it possible to expand mutual investment between BRICS countries several times over. The Fund’s representatives also suggested setting up an AI alliance to ensure leading positions of BRICS states in this sphere. Key participants in the BRICS Business Council have already supported these initiatives.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund actively expands cooperation with BRICS countries in the field of AI projects. For example, the Fund collaborates with the People’s Republic of China in analysing large data volumes and implementing computer vision projects. It also works with the United Arab Emirates on automated oil and gas production and implements agricultural solutions together with India.
