The President signed the Federal Law On Amendments to Russian Legislation to Improve the Legal Regulation of Relations Pertaining to the Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims and the Use of Foreign Vessels in the Internal Waters and the Territorial Sea of the Russian Federation.
The law aims to adjust Russian legislation to Resolution LEG.5(99) of the International Maritime Organisation in the part that concerns increasing the liability limits by 51 percent for maritime claims that are set out in Article 3 of the 1996 Protocol to the 1976 Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims.
The law also stipulates the rules for foreign tourist vessels in Russia’s internal waters and territorial sea.
