Vladimir Putin met with Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The leaders inspected facilities at the new cosmodrome, including a booster assembly room for Angara launch vehicles, the launching site for the Soyuz-2 space launch vehicle, an Angara launching site under construction, and the launch control centre.

Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Roscosmos Head Yury Borisov and Director General of the Centre for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Nikolai Nestechuk accompanied Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un.

Before inspecting the cosmodrome, Vladimir Putin had a conversation with Mariya Andreyeva, a ninth-grade school student at Classical Lyceum No 1 in Rostov-on-Don. On September 1, she took part in the Talking of What Matters open lesson, conducted by the President. She told him that she was fascinated with designing space satellites and suggested drafting educational programmes for school students at Roscosmos enterprises.

While at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Vladimir Putin presented Mariya with a rocket launch key and invited her to attend the launch of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on September 15.
