Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to participants in the first BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
The message reads, in part:
“Establishing direct, multilateral dialogue between lawmakers is a timely and important step in developing the BRICS group, which brings together five large and influential countries.
This forum brings a genuinely new dimension to the BRICS group’s activities and opens up broad new possibilities for joint work with representatives of various political parties, public organisations and expert circles. This is particularly important today, when many issues in modern international relations are complex in nature and call for the combined efforts of state authorities and civil society.
I am sure that the lawmakers will make a significant contribution to resolving the major tasks ahead for BRICS and will play an active part in diversifying our countries’ cooperation on the regional and global agendas and boosting the BRICS group’s influence on the global stage.”
The first BRICS Parliamentary Forum opened in Moscow on June 8 and brought together more than 100 lawmakers – speakers and deputies – from legislative bodies in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
