The President has signed the Federal Law on Ratifying the Third Protocol on Introducing Amendments to the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation dated October 7, 2002.
The Third Protocol on Amending the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) dated October 7, 2002 was signed in Astana on November 8, 2018.
The protocol provides for granting to non-CSTO member states, and international organisations, observer status with the CSTO if they are interested in studying the open legal and regulatory base, experience and practice of CSTO activity without assuming commitments to its practical undertakings.
In addition, states and international organisations that share the goals and principles of the CSTO, that are ready to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with it in areas of mutual interest and agree to take part in practical undertakings may be granted CSTO partner status.
The procedures for the granting and termination of the status of a CSTO observer and CSTO partner shall be determined by the relevant provisions endorsed by the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The protocol will promote cooperation between the CSTO, nonmember states and international organisations.
