Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement on Jurisdiction and Legal Assistance in Cases Related to the Temporary Presence of Units of the Collective Security System Forces and Resources in the Territories of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Member States.
The Agreement was signed in Dushanbe on September 16, 2021.
The Agreement establishes a mechanism for cooperation between the competent authorities of the CSTO member states on issues of jurisdiction and the provision of legal assistance in cases that have to do with the temporary deployment of units of the collective security system forces and equipment in the CSTO member states.
A request for legal assistance may be declined if the provision of such assistance is likely to compromise the host country’s sovereignty or security or runs counter to the national laws of the requested party.
