Winners of the 2016 Russian Federation National Awards for outstanding achievements in science and technology, literature and the arts, and humanitarian work have been announced.
The winners were announced at a special briefing at the Kremlin by Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko and member of the Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts Presidium and Presidential Adviser Vladimir Tolstoy.
The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in science and technology has been awarded to Yury Baturin, Vladimir Bogdanov and Anatoly Nuryayev for the creation of rational systems for the development of oil, oil-and-gas and gas-and-oil fields in Western Siberia.
The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in science and technology has been awarded to Amiran Revishvili, Alexander Karaskov and Yevgeny Pokushalov for scientific substantiation and introduction into clinical practice of a new concept for reducing morbidity and mortality among patients with heart rhythm abnormalities.
The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in science and technology has been awarded to Nikolai Shakura and Rashid Sunyaev for developing a black hole accretion disk theory.

The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in literature and the arts has been awarded to Eduard Artemyev for his contribution to the development of Russian and global music.
The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in literature and the arts has been awarded to Yury Grigorovich for his contribution to the development of Russian and global ballet.
The 2016 Russian Federation National Award in literature and the arts has been awarded to Mikhail Piotrovsky for his contribution to the preservation of the national and world cultural heritage.

The 2016 Russian Federation National Award for Outstanding Achievements in Humanitarian Activity has been awarded to Daniil Granin.
As per tradition, the President will present the National Awards at a Kremlin ceremony on Russia Day, which is celebrated on June 12.
