Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in the Religion Against Terrorism conference

October 6, 2016, Moscow

Deputy Chief of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in the plenary meeting of the Religion Against Terrorism international research and training conference that opened in Moscow.

Magomedsalam Magomedov delivered Vladimir Putin’s message of greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the conference, which read, in part:

“I consider your forum, which has united representatives of the authorities, civil society institutions, scientists, politicians and diplomats, a serious and relevant initiative and a tangible contribution to promoting cooperation between religious organisations and the state in countering any manifestations of extremism. This is especially urgent now that the majority of countries encounter global threats and challenges and growing ethnic and religious intolerance.

I would like to emphasise that all world religions are based on fundamental humanist values that are of timeless significance for the humanity. Their spiritual leaders are invariably urging believers to display mercy, justice and tolerance and to bring up the younger generation on the lofty ideals of kindness and respect for one another. Therefore, the consolidation of efforts of religious associations and their cooperation with government and public agencies is an important and indispensable condition for ensuring peace and accord on the planet.”

During his speech, Mr Magomedov emphasised the importance of the conference for elaborating common approaches to the development of a system of religious education and up-to-date measures to prevent different forms of the terrorist threat and ethnic, religious and internal religious conflicts in Eurasia.

He noted that centralised religious Muslim organisations are working hard to preserve and develop forms of Islam that combine religious moderation and common sense with conscientious service to the Fatherland and a respectful attitude to members of other religions traditional for this country. The state is rendering comprehensive assistance to religious Muslim organisations in their constructive efforts.
