Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov chaired the final meeting of the Council for Interethnic Relations Presidium in 2018.
The participants discussed the implementation of the state ethnic policy and mapped out the Council’s plans for 2019. The heads of the Council’s working bodies reported on their performance.
While speaking about changes in the sphere of interethnic relations that took place this year, Magomedsalam Magomedov highlighted the importance of the preserving by the President of the existing governance system in the area of state ethnic policy. He also pointed out the need to effectively and promptly implement the Presidential instructions issued following Council meetings.
Magomedsalam Magomedov said that one of the main results this year was the updating of Russia’s State Ethnic Policy Strategy until 2025. “We did a big job analysing the current wording of the Strategy and the numerous proposals submitted by the regions, the expert community as well as ethnic-cultural and interethnic public associations,” the Deputy Chief of Staff noted.
Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov reported on progress in preparing an action plan for the implementation of the strategy in 2019–2021 and the adjustment of the Russian Federation state programme The Implementation of the State Ethnic Policy.
Corresponding decisions were made following the Council Presidium meeting.
