July 24, 2020

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov chaired a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations.

Mr Magomedov thanked the council members and heads of public organisations that fulfilled their civic duty during this difficult time for Russia and took an active part in providing humanitarian and volunteer aid to medical organisations and people in need during the pandemic.

“This is important and proves our solidarity,” he noted.

The nationwide vote on the amendments to the Russian Constitution was an essential public and political event. Several council members were delegated to a specially established working group to develop the amendments. Magomedsalam Magomedov thanked them for their work and stressed that the amendments envisaged positive trends in today’s state policy aimed at strengthening the unity of the multi-ethnic Russian nation, ensuring interethnic consent and preserving Russia’s ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity.

“The process for updating the legislative base we have started, the development of constitutional amendments in the law and legislative acts and actions of state bodies will mean enormous work that we need to focus on in the nearest future,” he concluded.

The meeting participants also discussed issues of information support for state policy implementation and they developed a number of proposals to upgrade this work.

In conclusion, nominees for the 2020 Presidential Prize for contributions to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation were reviewed and approved.
