Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov chaired a seminar-conference on implementing the State Ethnic Policy Strategy.
The conference was attended by Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of Russia Igor Barinov, Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev, members of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, representatives of government authorities at various levels, of educational organisations, and the scientific and expert communities.
Speaking at the meeting, Magomedsalam Magomedov outlined the major directions of implementing the state ethnic policy, and emphasised that the current state of interethnic relations in most of the Siberian Federal District’s regions is not a cause for concern. We do not see any significant risks of conflict or discrimination; major efforts are being taken, and they are bringing positive results, Magomedsalam Magomedov noted.
The meeting participants paid particular attention to addressing measures to further consolidate the unity of the Russian nation, reduce the potential for conflict among migrants, interact with associations of indigenous peoples in the North and Siberia, exchange regional experience in the adaptation and integration of migrants, and preserve ethnocultural and linguistic diversity through the events of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.
After the meeting, corresponding resolutions were passed.
During the trip, Magomedsalam Magomedov and Anatoly Seryshev met with Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev to discuss socioeconomic development and interethnic relations in the region.
