Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law on Political Parties and the Federal Law on the Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in Referendums for Citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law stipulates that the election day for regional government authorities in the Russian Federation constituent entities and local self-government bodies will be the second Sunday in September of the year in which such authorities’ terms expire. In the years when State Duma deputies are elected for its next convocation, the same election day is used for State Duma elections.
Moreover, the law establishes the procedures for creating single-mandate and multi-mandate polling districts, voting precincts and referendum precincts, as well as the formation of precinct electoral commissions.
