Vladimir Putin congratulated the Muslim community of the Russian Federation on the Uraza Bayram holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan.
The message reads, in part:
”Over the centuries, this holiday has symbolised people's aspirations for moral perfection, charity and piety. The Muslim community in Russia harmoniously combines its religious life and a proactive public stand. The Spiritual Administration of Muslims is actively involved in discussions on the development of civil society and implements important charity projects. The construction of mosques and schools, improvement of the Islamic education system and preparation and organisation of pilgrimages are continuing. Cooperation with Muslims in the CIS and around the world is expanding and the interreligious dialogue remains constructive.
I would like to highlight the significant contribution made by the fruitful and much needed work of Muslim organisations to the preservation and development of the rich ethnic and cultural traditions of the peoples of Russia and its centuries-old spiritual heritage.
On this happy holy day I wish Russian Muslims prosperity, health and success in good deeds.“
