Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Muslims on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
The message reads:
“Today is the first day of the month of Ramadan, a particularly respected holiday in Islam.
The tradition of holy fasting by the entire Ummah is deeply rooted in past, and symbolises the need to be compassionate and tolerant, to do more good deeds, and to take care of people.
We are rightly proud of prominent Muslims who have made an invaluable contribution to strengthening Russia, defending its independence and sovereignty, and who have done a great deal to preserve peace and harmony in our multinational society.
I am sure that Russia’s Muslims will continue to foster the progress of our common Fatherland, building a strong, prosperous and modern state.
I wish you prosperity and all the best.”
