Greetings to Russian Jews

September 13, 2015

Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Jews on Rosh Hashanah.

The message of greetings reads, in part:

“For followers of Judaism, the Jewish New Year means paying respect to the priceless spiritual and historical heritage of our ancestors. This is the time to assess the moral value of one’s actions, to plan new good deeds and forgive the offences. And of course, a holiday is the time when you help your near and dear ones and show attention to those who need help and support.

For centuries, the values of Judaism have served the noble causes of uniting people and building trust and understanding. Following these ancient traditions, Russian Jewish religious organisations are working actively to maintain inter-ethnic peace and accord in society, to develop a fruitful dialogue with other traditional religions, to resist any signs of antisemitism and xenophobia; they are actively involved in the implementation of charitable and educational projects and initiatives.”
