Greetings to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and participants, organisers and guests of the World Russian People’s Council

November 1, 2017

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and participants, organisers and guests of the 21st World Russian People’s Council.

The message reads, in part:

“For many years, your reputable forum has brought together in Moscow representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, government agencies, and public and religious organisations to discuss the most pressing cultural and civilizational issues.

I am sure that the current forum themed Russia in the 21st Century: Historical Experience and Development Prospects will raise important and urgent questions of the present time and inspire its participants to hold thoughtful discussions. I would like to emphasise that Russia has always had strong traditions of people’s unity and togetherness. It has always been committed to strengthening peace, cooperation and trust-based, mutually beneficial dialogue with its partners. Only while preserving this historical heritage and our spiritual and ethic foundations will we be able to move forward and reach our goals.”
