Law on legal regulation of media in Crimea and Sevastopol

December 2, 2014

Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On Specificities of Legal Regulation of Relations in the Media following the Accession of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the Formation of Two New Federal Constituent Entities in the Russian Federation – the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol.

In particular, the Federal Law establishes the procedures for registering media whose production is intended to be spread in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and the provision of permits for television and radio broadcasting in these territories.

In accordance with the law, media products may be distributed in the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol on the basis of documents issued by Ukrainian state authorities, including television and radio broadcasting, through April 1, 2015.
