Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to participants and guests of the award ceremony for winners of the SMIrotvorets-2010 competition for best coverage of interethnic interaction between the peoples of Russia and ethno-cultural development.
The message reads, in part:
“Interethnic and religious harmony has played a key role in the development of Russia, a nation that is home to over 180 ethnic groups. Being able to effectively resolve major challenges faced today by our nation is greatly dependent on our society’s unity.
It is wonderful that more and more journalists are giving attention to the issue of ethnic and religious tolerance and use their work to promote the spread of high moral and ethic principles in the society.”
Participants in the national competition include federal, regional, and ethnic and cultural media outlets. In 2010, several thousand works from 360 media outlets were submitted to the competition.
