The discussion focused on the further development of the judicial system in Russia in connection with the appearance of new constituent entities – the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and on issues of merging the Supreme Court and the Higher Arbitration Court.
According to the court’s president, in connection with the creation of new constituent entities within the Russian Federation, work has been launched to draft relevant laws and statutory acts and to set up a Russian Academy of Justice branch in Crimea. Besides, workshops are being organised for judges, and efforts are made to maintain the functioning of courts.
Mr Lebedev also informed the President that applications have been invited for positions of judges at the new Supreme Court after its merger with the Higher Arbitration Court.
