Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On the Establishment of Courts of the Russian Federation on the Territory of the Kherson Region and on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law has been developed in pursuance of the Federal Constitutional Law On the Admission of the Kherson Region to the Russian Federation and the Formation of a New Entity in the Russian Federation – the Kherson Region, and in accordance with the Federal Constitutional Law On the Judicial System of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law envisages the establishment of a Kherson Regional Court and an Arbitration Court, and 13 city, district and inter-district courts and the Kherson garrison military court in the Kherson Region.
The decision on the commencement date of operations of the new courts is to be made by the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law will ensure the administration of justice in the Kherson Region and the implementation of the local citizens’ constitutional right of access to justice.
