Dmitry Medvedev held a regular meeting with the heads of Russian judicial authorities.
The participants in the meeting exchanged their opinions on ways to improve justice in Russia, in particular, for criminal cases.
The meeting also discussed certain draft laws, issues pertaining to appointment of judges, and a number of the Constitutional Court resolutions on using the European experience of introducing an institution of appeal. These resolutions are subject to implementation as part of the cooperation between Russia and the Council of Europe and the European Court of Justice.
The meeting was attended by Constitutional Court President Valery Zorkin, Supreme Court President Vyacheslav Lebedev, Higher Arbitration Court President Anton Ivanov, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov, Presidential Aide and Head of the State Legal Department in the Presidential Executive Office Larisa Brychyova, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, and Presidential Aide Veniamin Yakovlev.
