The expedition, carried out using grant funding, is part of the RGS project Russia’s Marine Glory, the main goal of which is to study and preserve Russia’s marine cultural and historic heritage and spread knowledge about Russian naval history.

The young researchers taking part in the expedition are conducting archaeological, geographical and geological studies and making maps of already known and newly discovered landmarks and monuments on the island.
