The President signed the Executive Order On the Celebration of the 100th Birth Anniversary of Nikolai Basov.
In recognition of Nikolai Basov's significant contribution to national and world science, the President has endorsed the Russian Government’s proposal to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Nikolai Basov in 2022.
The Government was instructed to establish within a month an organising committee for preparing and holding the celebrations; to oversee the development and approval of a plan of major activities; and to establish, starting from 2023, five individual scholarships in Nikolai Basov’s memory for postgraduate students of the Pyotr Lebedev Institute of Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. State authorities of Russian regions, public associations and concerned scientific and educational organisations are advised to take part in the preparation and holding of events dedicated to the celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of Basov.

Nikolai Basov (1922–2001) – Soviet and Russian physicist, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics (1964), the Lenin Prize (1959) and the USSR State Prize (1989). Two-time Hero of Socialist Labour, he made a significant contribution to the development of quantum electronics and the creation of laser systems. Academician Nikolai Basov was director of the Pyotr Lebedev Institute of Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1973 to 1989.
