On Russian Students Day, Vladimir Putin visited the Lomonosov cluster, a new building of Moscow State University and part of the Vorobyovy Gory Innovation Science and Technology Centre.
The President was accompanied by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow State University Rector Viktor Sadovnichy. The President reviewed projects of the residents and potential participants of the Lomonosov cluster that are working on unmanned aerial systems, advanced industrial technologies and biomedical projects.
In particular, Vladimir Putin reviewed Russian unmanned aerial system designs, radio electronic devices, Russia’s first gene therapy medication to treat ischemia and atherosclerosis, and a nanometre-resolution biomedical microscope.
The Lomonosov cluster is the flagship of the Vorobyovy Gory Innovation Science and Technology Centre. The cluster is expected to host laboratories of high-tech companies, platforms for scientific research and experimental design projects, certification and trial centres, and multimedia exhibition venues.
The Vorobyovy Gory Centre has been in development on the territory of Moscow State University since 2019. The centre is seen as a contributor to the development and implementation of new high-tech projects, and to cooperation of research organisations and businesses. In addition to the Lomonosov cluster, created with support from the Moscow City Government, the centre will comprise eight more industry-specific clusters: Educational, Multi-Disciplinary, Engineering, Nanotech, Biomed, Geotech, Infotech and Space. Eighty companies have become residents of the Innovation Science and Technology Centre to date.
