Meeting with members of Skolkovo academic advisory board

October 15, 2010, Moscow region, Gorki

Dmitry Medvedev met with members of the academic advisory board of the Fund for Development of the Centre of Research and Commercialising of New Technologies in Skolkovo.

In his speech President Medvedev said that the Skolkovo Innovation Centre project represents a special partnership between the government, business and science.

Dmitry Medvedev informed board members that a series of decisions designed to ensure that this project acts as a pilot one and, eventually, a model, have been prepared.

The President recalled that Russia's parliament passed a special law on Skolkovo that provides for a number of benefits and contains provisions defining the innovation centre's status. Dmitry Medvedev also mentioned the grants allocated by the government to attract foreign scientists to work in Russia.

President Medvedev welcomed the preliminary results of the Fund for Development of the Centre of Research and Commercialising of New Technologies (Skolkovo Foundation), a non-profit organisation designed to achieve socially useful results in the field of innovation.

The Fund's academic advisory board is an expert body composed of renowned scientists from Russia, USA and Germany. The board's co-chairs are Nobel laureate in physics Zhores Alferov (Russia) and Nobel laureate in chemistry Roger David Kornberg (USA).
