Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov to discuss the socioeconomic situation in the region. The Governor also briefed the President on the preparations for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, to be marked in 2018.
According to the Governor Andrei Bocharov, 8 new production facilities have been created in the region in 2015. Investment has reached around 18 billion rubles, with 17.5 billion rubles invested in production modernisation.
Despite harsh natural conditions, agriculture has also been developing successfully, with intensive land improvement and development of livestock breeding centres.
Work also continues on infrastructure projects in housing and the utilities sector. The socioeconomic situation in the region is stable and social commitments are being met.
