Law on improving state support measures for public associations of people with disabilities

July 14, 2012

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Articles 4 and 33 of the Federal Law On Social Protection for People with Disabilities in the Russian Federation and Federal Law On the General Principles of Local Self-Government Organisation in the Russian Federation.

The Federal Law aims to improve state support measures for public groups and organisations established by national associations of people with disabilities.

Under the Federal Law’s provisions, the state authorities and local government bodies will support these groups and organisations by providing use of assets free of charge (including buildings and non-residential premises) in case such assets have already been in use for five or more years.

Under the provisions, support measures established by Russian laws for socially-focused non-governmental organisations and organisations categorised as small and medium-sized businesses will also extend to groups and organisations of people with disabilities, provided they meet the requirements to the aforementioned organisations.
