Ms Golikova briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the ministry’s efforts towards realisation of the goals set out in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly.
Tatyana Golikova said the Ministry was working closely with the regions on healthcare modernisation, while giving priority to the protection of mothers and children. Perinatal centres are being set up or reconstructed across the country and special training programmes are being launched for medical personnel, including in neonatal surgery.
In addition, Ms Golikova reported that efforts are being made to fulfil the President’s instructions on the creation of mobile social services teams and to introduce new incentives for social workers: the prizes established by the President will be awarded for the first time in June 2011.
During the meeting Dmitry Medvedev told the minister that he had signed a law raising the standards of social services.
