Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 230 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Article 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law aims to enhance the effectiveness of countering illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Part II of Article 230 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code is supplemented with the qualification of liability for inducing another person to use narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues, through information and communications networks (including the internet). This action is punishable by a prison term from five to ten years.
In addition, the above article is supplemented with part IV that increases liability for actions envisaged by this article if they caused death of two or more victims through negligence. These actions are punishable by a prison term from 12 to 15 years.
A corresponding amendment has been made to Article 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
