Dmitry Medvedev signed an executive order On Approving the Strategy of the Russian Federation National Anti-Drug Policy until 2020.
The Strategy contemplates a system of organisational and law-enforcement measures to reduce drug supplies and improve the corresponding regulatory framework. The document contains a list of specific measures to prevent drug use, improve the efficacy and further develop substance abuse/dependence treatment options, and provide medical and social rehabilitation for drug addicted individuals.
The document contains a section addressing the main areas of developing international cooperation in drug control and fighting drug trafficking.
To meet the challenges outlined in the Strategy, spending on state and legal support for anti-drug activities in all areas will be increased.
