Svetlana Medvedeva attended the opening ceremony for the World Figure Skating Championship at Megasport Ice Palace on Khodynka field in Moscow.
Together with the First Lady, the championship opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee for Education, three-times Olympic and ten times world figure skating champion Irina Rodnina, Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy Minister Vitaly Mutko and honoured Russian athletes and coaches.
