They discussed the results of the Olympic Games in Beijing. The President asked the officials responsible to put together proposals to help the development of physical culture and sport in the country and Russian athletes preparing for the upcoming Olympic Games in Vancouver and London.

The head of state asked that these measures be ready for a joint meeting of the State Council Presidium and the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, to be held in October.

Vitaly Mutko has also reported to the President on the implementation of the federal target programme Development of Physical Culture and Sport in the Russian Federation for 2006–2015.
