Vladimir Putin watched the Russian judo team’s performance at the Paralympics in London

September 1, 2012

On Saturday, the President visited a school, where he congratulated teachers and students on the start of the new school year, held a meeting on the modernisation of general secondary education in the regions, and took part in the Moscow City Day events on Red Square. That evening, Mr Putin watched TV broadcasts of the competitions in London, in which Russia’s Paralympics judo team was taking part.

After Tatyana Savostyanova won a silver medal in the judo final, Mr Putin spoke to her by phone, told her how he followed the event closely on television, and even noted that he did not necessarily agree with the judge’s decision on the final throw in the fight. The President congratulated Ms Savostyanova on her silver medal.
