Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the athletes on their brilliant performances in major international tournaments and the Olympics. The President addressed separate words of thanks to the athletes' mentor and President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev. The discussion continued in the form of a tea party.

Olympic Champion in Beijing Elena Dementieva, winner of silver and bronze medals in the Olympics Dinara Safina and Vera Zvonareva, members of the women's team Elena Vesnina and Svetlana Kuznetsova, winner of the Kremlin Cup Igor Kunitsyn, and members of the men's tennis team Marat Safin and Dmitry Tursunov took part in the meeting in the Kremlin.
