The President will meet with Russian athletes and organisers of the 27th World Summer Universiade and congratulate the games’ medallists at the Novogorsk training centre on July 19.
The 27th World Summer Universiade in Kazan was held on July 6 to 17, with 7966 participating athletes from 160 nations. The Universiade’s athletic programme included 27 types of sports. 351 sets of medals were awarded.
The Russian national team, consisting of 663 athletes, achieved the highest results in the entire history of the Universiade, taking first place in national team rankings. Russia’s athletes won 292 medals, including 155 gold, 75 silver and 62 bronze medals.
Vladimir Putin visited the student games in Kazan twice over the course of the Universiade. On July 6, the President of Russia participated in the Opening Ceremony and on July 13, he checked in on the competition, met with athletes and toured the Federal Medical and Biological Agency’s mobile medical units. The President also met with representatives of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) executive committee.
